Two Suspects Dead - Officer Involved Shooting In Stone County, MS (Updated)

Numerous reports this afternoon of a shooting in Perkinston, MS at a Dollar General on US 49. Two suspects are dead and an officer has been injured.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-

involved shooting involving the Stone County Sheriff’s Office that occurred on March 10th, 2024,

near 1543 US 49 in Perkinston, Mississippi.

A deputy with the sheriff’s office was responding to a domestic violence call. Upon the deputy’s

arrival, the subject discharged a weapon striking the deputy in the arm. The deputy then discharged

his weapon at the subject, and a brief round of gunfire ensued. At this time, it is believed the

subject succumbed to injuries sustained by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Another individual was

found deceased at the scene and her death is believed to be connected to the subject. This

information is preliminary and subject to change.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the

investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
