Travis Ray Conner Sentenced to Life without Parole for 1 st Degree Murder.


District Attorney Kassie Coleman announced today that Travis Ray Conner, 33, was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Charles Wright to a term of life without parole in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. At the conclusion of a three-day trial, a Lauderdale County jury convicted Conner, a violent habitual offender, of First Degree Murder for killing Donnikia Clark.

The State of Mississippi submitted evidence of Conner’s violent habitual offender status, pursuant to Mississippi Code § 99-19-83. Conner had been previously convicted of three felony offenses with one of those convictions being a violent offense. Conner was previously convicted of Armed Robbery, Possession of Contraband in a Prison and Possession of a Deadly Weapon in a Correctional Facility.

“It is often said that justice delayed is justice denied. Today the Clark family finally saw justice served. Friday is the five-year anniversary of Mr. Clark’s death. I am thankful his family has remained patient as we pursued this conviction.” District Attorney Kassie Coleman.

Conner was arrested by the Meridian Police Department on October 17, 2017, for Murder. He was indicted in May 2018, but his trial had been postponed due for multiple reasons, including delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
