Temporary closure planned on State Route 19/39 north in Meridian September 14

Temporary closure planned on State Route 19/39 north in Meridian September 14

WHO: The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT).

WHAT: Temporary closure.

WHEN: The closure will begin at midnight on September 14, 2022 (updated) and expected to remain in place for three weeks.

WHERE: State Route 19/39 northbound underneath Interstate 20/59 at Exit 154B in Meridian.

WHY: The contractor will shut down the roadway in order to lower the northbound lanes and add vertical clearance beneath the I-20/59 overpass bridges.

HOW: Motorists are advised to use the signed detour that will be in place for the duration of the closure. The signed detour directs traffic to use I-20/59 eastbound to the exit at Jimmy Rodgers Parkway (Exit 156), then take I-20/59 westbound to Exit 154 to SR 39 north.

Pedestrians are reminded to never try and cross an interstate. Stay updated on this work at MDOTtraffic.com, download the MDOT Traffic mobile app and follow @MississippiDOT on Facebook and Twitter.
