Severe thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and evening ahead of an approaching cold front. The primary concerns will be for damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to quarter size, but a tornado can't be ruled out.
As storms redevelop later today, heavy rain may become a concern over much of the area. Two to three inches of localized heavy rainfall will be possible within a few hours. This will bring a limited threat for flash flooding in low lying and urban areas.
