MPD Gives Statement After Three Cars Shot in Parking Lot of MPD

Gunfire rang out in Downtown Meridian Tuesday afternoon. Witnesses say they heard between 7 to 10 shots fired. A man wearing a black ski mask ran from the scene and was later taken into custody. Three cars were struck with gunfire, and the suspect was shooting at someone and missed striking the carts at MPD.
Below is the statement MPD released.
A suspect in a mid-day shooting at a Meridian apartment complex has been taken into custody by Meridian police.
Officers responded to a shots-fired call at Mountain View Apartments, which is located across from the Meridian Police Department.
“The suspect was not shooting at police,” MPD Chief Deborah Naylor-Young said.
No one was injured in the incident, however, several vehicles in the MPD parking lot were hit.
