Meridian's 12th Murder for the Year

Updated: Oct 16

Last Sunday morning Meridian was awakened to the news that a body had been found on 41st Ave. Lauderdale County Coroner Stella Mchahan has identified the man as 56-year-old James Williams of Meridian. An autopsy confirms Williams died from a gunshot Wound to the upper torso. Witnesses told me a single gunshot was heard between 9:20 and 9:30 pm on Saturday night (28th). Williams was found the next morning lying just a few feet off 21st Street in the grass.

As I reported last weekend this marks the 12th murder of the year, tying deaths from 2023 with two months to go before the end of year-end. We send condolences to the family, no suspects in the case have been released from MPD.
