Meridian Man Rushed to the Hospital after Being hit in the Face With Pipe.

The Meridian Police Department responded to call in the 1100 block of 27th Ave this afternoon, where they found a man with injuries. Witnesses say this was unprovoked as the man walked up to the subject and struck him in the face with a steel pipe. One person was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault. The condition of the person who was struck is unknown at this time. This is still under investigation as police gather information, more details to follow as they become available from MPD.

Note: Under Mississippi law, a person commits an aggravated assault if he: attempts to cause serious bodily injury to another person. intentionally or recklessly causes serious bodily injury to another while acting with extreme indifference to human life.
