EMEPA works to restore widespread outages
East Mississippi Electric Power Association’s system sustained extensive damage from severe storms and damaging tornadoes on the evening of Wednesday, April 13.
At the peak, more than 8,000 members experienced a loss of power. Currently, crews continue to work to repair damage and restore service to every member that can safely receive power.
EMEPA’s electric system sustained at least 120 broken poles, 70 of which are 3-phase poles.
In addition to EMEPA crews, six contract right-of-way crews are currently assisting and 22 line crews from Natchez Trace Electric and Singing River Electric in Mississippi, Tallapoosa River Electric and Covington Electric Cooperative in Alabama, and contractors are arriving to aid in restoration efforts.
As of 9:30 a.m., Thursday, April 14, EMEPA’s outage count is:

·Kemper County – 6
·Lauderdale County – 1,322
·Clarke County – 997
·Wayne County – 177
·Newton County – 28
·Neshoba County – 77
