Double Murder Press Conference

The Meridian Police Department held a press conference this afternoon on the double murder of a husband and wife who had been married for 76 years.

The press conference was brief and lasted 3 minutes and 45 seconds.

Information released by Chief Deborah Young during the press conference:

• 6:08 pm 4-25-24 responded to the 48 block 36th Ave

• Home invasion

• 2 people were found with multiple injuries

• Pronounced DOA on the Scene

• The violent Crime unit was activated to collect evidence

• Two Victims identified

• 97-year-old Miles Herrington (husband)

• 94-year-old Ina Herrington (wife)

• Victims sent for Autopsy to determine the cause of death

• MPD sends condolences to the family

• Murder was Tragic and Violent

• MPD Seeking information from the public

• Investigators working actively around the clock

•  Person or persons will be fully prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

• Isolated incident

This marks the 3rd & 4th Murder in Meridian for the year. On February 29th a 17-year-old female was killed by gunfire followed by a Murder in March on Mosby Road.
