Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael Guest (MS-03) released the following statement ahead of the State of the Union Address. 

“President Biden is addressing the nation tonight. If he has been paying attention to poll numbers on illegal immigration, President Biden must focus on his administration’s failures at the Southern border. Since President Biden took office, there have been nearly 9 million illegal crossings into the United States, which is three times the number of people who live in Mississippi.

“The United States cannot continue to sustain the number of people crossing our Border. President Biden has the power to stop this but has done nothing to address this issue. I am proud to serve as the Vice Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, and I have visited the border more times than the President himself and Vice President Harris have combined.  

“The number one issue facing Americans today is illegal immigration and the Administration’s open border policies. Tonight, as the President addresses the nation, Americans are watching and taking notes to see if the President will offer solutions to address the border crisis or if he will continue to ignore the problem that he created.”
