Arrest Made in Threat to Magnolia Middle School


Meridian, MS, September 5, 2024 – The Meridian Public School District Campus Police Department has arrested a juvenile in connection with a threat made against Magnolia Middle School. The threat, which was reported to authorities on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, prompted immediate action from both school officials, and state, federal, and local law enforcement to ensure the safety of students and staff.


After a thorough investigation, a juvenile has been taken into custody without incident, and law enforcement has confirmed that there is no credible threat to the school or community.


“We take all threats seriously and will not tolerate actions that endanger the safety of our schools,” said Chief Cornelius Parks, MPSD Campus Police Chief. “The swift response from school officials and the cooperation of the community played a vital role in resolving this matter.”


The juvenile is currently facing charges of making terroristic threats, and the case has been referred to the juvenile justice system. Due to the individual’s age, no further details will be released at this time.
