3rd Person Dies in Mass Shooting Near Lauderdale
Sheriff Ward Calhoun and The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department continue to put the pieces together of a mass shooting that happened on NE Cole Road on Christmas Eve. The call came in around 7:10 pm that three people had been shot. Once on scene deputies found three people, 15-year-old Treyvone Young who was pronounced deceased, and two others with injuries. Johnny Mosley and Shunda Brown were airlifted to Jackson for medical care.
Joseph Edward Spinks was arrested and charged with one count of Murder and two counts of attempted murder by 9:30 pm on Christmas Eve. His Bond was originally set at $700,000. Since Spinks's arrest Johnny Mosley, 64, and Shunda Brown, 48 have both passed away from their injuries. It is unclear what the motive may have been, LCSO continues to investigate the crime.
